Different types of accommodation are available at Drakensbergkloof Guest Farm and Wedding Venue, all of it tucked away in the pristine, untouched beauty of nature giving guests an intimate and exclusive experience.
Staying at Drakensbergkloof Guest Farm and Wedding Venue is the perfect way to escape from the rush of everyday life.
With no television, radio or cellphone reception, one is truly able to shut off from lifes’ stresses and troubles and have a well-deserved break.
The Chalet can only be reached using 4×4-vehicles, while all vehicles are able to reach the Safari Camp and Stables. Guests are however advised to rather make use of vehicles with a higher ground clearance.
All of the accommodation can be booked separately for weddings, conferences and weekends away.
Mountain Chalet
The chalet is a single thatch-roof building with two wings, situated on the shores of a dam overlooking the water. Each wing hosts two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Each room contains two three-quarter-beds, bedding and towels which are provided. The chalet is self-catering and able to accommodate up to eight guests.
The living room offers an indoor braai-area, gas stove, fridge and lovely fireplace. The chalet is powered by solar panels and a traditional hot-water-donkey-boiler outside gives you access to hot water in no time.
Wood is provided for by the venue.
In October the Coral trees surrounding the chalet produce a breath-taking wall of green and red, but throughout the year many other type of trees offer a feeling of seclusion and privacy.
Birds and game can be viewed from the veranda and offer the perfect setting for a sundowner.
A jetty stretches out into the dam, ideal for fishing catch and release rainbow trout. While a waterfall just a stone’s throw away creates beautiful mountainous water pools where guests can cool off.
Safari Camp
The Safari Camp consists of a wooden bungalow, three tented camps and a lapa.
The wooden bungalow offers a double bed, en-suite bathroom, kitchenette with facilities and a braai-area outside. The bungalow is also used as bridal suite as it is idealy located close to the reception venue.
The bathroom contains a shower, toilet and basin, towels and bedding are provided. Warm water is available through a traditional hot-water-donkey-boiler outside. Wood is provided for by the venue.
Each tented camp consists of a wooden frame with a thatch-roof, while a tent inside the structure constitutes a bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Each tented camp has its own under cover veranda and braai area.
The bedroom offers a double bed and single bed, with a shower, toilet and basin, towels and bedding are provided.
Bedding and towels are provided. Warm water is available through a traditional hot-water-donkey-boiler outside. Wood is provided by the venue.
The units are located far enough from each other to offer privacy to guests.
Situated in the centre of the tented camp is a communal lapa which is the ideal place for a group to relax around the fire, have dinner and laugh together late into the night.
The lapa offers a stove, fridge, sink, indoor braai, cutlery and crockery for up to eight people.
The Stables
The Stables offer accommodation for 54 guests consisting of 22 rooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom.
Twelve of the rooms contain two single beds and are able to accommodate two guests each. Five family rooms are able to accommodate two adults and two children each.
Four rooms each contain a double bed, while another wheelchair-friendly room offer accommodation for two adults.
The stables include a spacious living- and relaxation area that includes dining tables and comfortable chairs around an indoor braai and fireplace.
A fully equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer is part of the amenities, adjacent there is a playroom where guests can enjoy a game of pool, table tennis or dancing.
The Stables can also be used for conference facilities where a TV, projector and screen is available.
The Bridal Suite
The newly renovated sandstone building is one of the original buildings on Drakensbergkloof. Turned into a bridal suite with everything a bride would require to get ready for her big day. It is ideally suited for a last girls night before your wedding, accommodating 4 bridesmaids and the bride on the Friday night and space for hair and make-up on the Saturday morning. On your way to the wedding the Drakensbergkloof team turns it back into a honeymoon suite perfect to welcome the newly married couple. More photos of the bridal suite in our gallary.
